About

I’m Johnnette P. Eggert (Wulu), wife of John Paul Eggert, mother to Sarah and Johnny Eggert, and daughter of the late Executive Director of Unity Conference Center and founders of the Richard M. Nixon Institute-John and Minnie Wulu School System (founded in 1964) in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, the Honorable John N. Wulu Sr. and Mrs. Minnie K. Wulu. I was born in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. After graduating high school, I traveled to the United States after a short break occurred in the midst of Liberia’s many civil wars. I arrived here with five dollars and one suitcase with my late father, and later became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America, an honor I’m so proud of to this day.

As God provided, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1995. While at home in Monrovia, I graduated from the College of West Africa in 1987. Prior to the blessings and miracles from God through the University of Detroit Mercy, I received a Certificate in Home Health Aide/ Nursing Assistant from JTPA-School of Nursing (Detroit Public Schools-Detroit, MI) in 1991. I also received a Certificate of Achievement -40 Hour of Real Estate Fundamentals Course- from the Michigan Institute of Real Estate in 2007. Most recently, I was accepted into Oakland University Masters in Leadership Education Program in 2015.

As a member of a family full of educators and government officials, working with members of the community is second nature to me. Moreover, I’ve worked as a substitute teacher with administrators, teachers, students, parents and the communities at large over the years. Currently, I work as an outreach associate for a healthcare company focused on treating elderly medicaid patients. Prior to this, I worked as a substitute teacher within the Lamphere School District as well as the Oak Park School District in the same capacity for over a decade. I worked for several years as a nursing assistant with seniors, their families and management in nursing homes within surrounding communities.

Additionally, I served as a member for the City of Madison Heights Multicultural Advisory Board for two years. As a business owner and entrepreneur, I have had years of experience in working with seniors, children, families, businesses and the general public.

The needs of seniors, children and families are most dear to my heart.  As a wife and mother, working with seniors, children, families, businesses, and the general public over the years within the district and/or surrounding communities, has prepared me for this wonderful public service call. My vision is for Madison Heights to progress forward through senior and family oriented initiatives, business development inclusive of  increased small businesses and effective public safety.
